Daily Poetics
It all started with Fall Colors, Yellow, Red, Orange, Green. All collected by the PoppyTalk blog that I so love.

On the "collecting red" day, I noticed a picture i really liked, it's on the fourth (and bottom) line on this mosaic, the third in the row, when you start looking from the left. And I immediately noticed that said picture was by Flickr member "dailypoetics". I immediately fell for that name.
And what a delight was is to discover that behind "Daily Poetics" stood a very interesting collage artist, Kariann Burleson, and a delightful blog, that I highly recommend?!
Here it is:

Machines, Abstraction and Women
David Lynch in Paris - Galeries Lafayette's shopping windows, Boulevard Hausmann, until October the 3rd.

Sketch by David Lynch for the Paris exhibition.

Hello Lovelies!
I am a big admirer of David Lynch's cinema, especially the intriguing "Mulholland Drive", and also love his furniture design. So when I heard he was having an exhibit in Paris during my short stay there, I was pretty excited!
But then I went to see it and was hugely disappointed. So I tried something new: why not add a layer to something I found lacked depth? I decided to take shots of the exhibit, while purposely adding reflections of the windows, the facing buildings and silhouettes of passers by. I think the result is doing good to Lynch's work. So here goes (you can click on all my photos to view them larger):
This doll in a yellow dress was singing!
The tears were actually falling!
An abstract machine, reminding me of Marcel Duchamp. My fave!

Mingei : Japanese Folk Arts
Since I missed the exhibition "l'esprit MINGEI" in the quai Branly Museum in Paris last year, I was intrigued to know what it was all about... I'm a fan of Japan and its arts, both traditional and modern.
And then I inherited a book from a dear friend, called "The Folk Arts of Japan", with an introduction of the founder of the concept of Mingei Art, Yanagi Soetsu, who turned out to be the founder of the Mingei movement! By Googling around a bit, I stumbled upon a Mingei Art Museum... online. This is the site I want to present to you today.
This online Museum IS CHOCK-FULL OF information, and features +200 beautiful photographs of delicate lacquerware,

impressive metalware,

paintings,

ceramics,

I hope you enjoyed this little tour, and would, like me, want to know more about Yanagi, the Mingei movement, and how it influences Japanese design today!

Stéphanie Durand's Ceramics

I just bought a little vase from ceramist extraordinaire Stéphanie Durand. I love the organic, textured and very wabi-sabi quality of her work. My vase is quite like this one:
I also love her quite "submarine life" ceramics:
