Funny Things Happen
Hello,

A Dresser with Framed Insects (photo source unknown).
Just when i was thinking of the new "bug decor" category, on September the 4th, sfgirlbybay and d*s, two of my fave blogs (they're daily reads, actually) happen to mention bugs the exact same day!
First, let me mention the guest post by Amy Azzarito at d*s: she was talking about Wedgewood porcelain, but i happened to spot the beautiful butterflies in the cabinet! Have a look:

Second, there was Victoria mentioning "weird science" on an pretty amazing Etsy shop. Ditto!

Enjoy!

It's Time to Decorate with Bugs!
Hello Lovelies, it's me again!

I've been thinking lately, especially after featuring here yesterday this amazing apartment found on ApartmentTherapy...
Fact 1: I love home decor... obviously!
Fact 2: I love bugs, yes, insects. I draw them. Butterflies, dragonflies, scarabs, you name it! They're beautiful!
So why not decorate with bugs?! I think this new category will be dedicated to:
1: My bug art. So I'll share my love with you.
2. Examples of beautiful homes decorated with insects (be it fabric pattern, real insects dried and framed, pâintings and drawings, etc...). I'll do my best to give due credit to each home owner of course!
3: Photos of bugs decorating my own home.
See you, butterflies!

Moving Forward
Hello Lovelies!

I decided it's time for this blog to move forward and give you more decor porn to look at - just like the example above! I have been cleaning and organizing a lot lately, you can see a few pics here on Flickr, and I'll post about this more at length tomorrow, BUT the result is that I threw away a lot of magazines and kept quite a few of which I mean to tear the best pages "for your eyes only", scan them and post them here, so I can throw away even more mags, but still enjoy the best they have to offer.
This new category in the blog will be called "Torn Pages". I do hope you'll enjoy it!

In The Mood For Dark Wood
Hi,
I'm happy to be back in town! ;-)
I'm glad to discover I'm not the only girl into dark, masculine wood. Check out Nina's apartment on AT! I've always been into dark wook and masculine flair. I believe it derives from my genuine love for Art Deco and the Thirties style, esp. Hollywood's Golden Era! Here are a few examples I stumbled upon last week on the blogosphere:

an amazing collecting of Danish and German vases (unknown source).

Pernille Vest is the stylist for this photo. Check out her amazing portfolio!

Says Heather of decorology:
"Rich warm colors like navy blue, red, golden-tan, and plums offer bright color without being too worrisome of dirt showing through."

and of course, there's my beloved thrifted Art Deco dark brown couch:

Yellow Stuff for My Kitchen
After some yellow inspiration, comes the perspiration. Cleaning and organizing the kitchen, then buying some yellow stuff as pick-me-ups for the room. Here's what I found at www.Monoprix.fr :

A yellow rug to put below sink, two white and yellow mugs to hang above counter, one dishtowel with same leaf/floral pattern as mugs (to be hung too), and a small bamboo tray for lemons and onions, to put on counter top.
Yay!

Emery et Cie
Hello,
Remember my little teaser? Well it is a wrought iron door (above) with a wonderful, oh-so-spring motif of birds on it, by Emery et Cie.
Agnès Emery founded her company, Emery et cie, in Belgium. Over the years, and through working with skillful artisans+, she has gathered quite a lot to offer, from wallpaper, to paint, to Moroccan ceramics, to wrought iron hardware, to fabric and clothes, lighting, rugs and tableware... Almost anything for the home. And i forgot the furniture dept, too!
Don't miss her website, it is beautiful to look at, and Agnès has a story to tell behind each object she sells.
I especially enjoyed her story about a bland, white, depressing kitchen one of her customers despaired over... And how all it took was a coat of absinthe green paint and some new door handles (reindeer ones, see below) on the kitchen cabinets to revive the whole room!
Enjoy!

Artful Ways of Hanging Jewelry

photo Hygge & West.
Hello,
You may, just like me, have gathered quite a few pieces of jewelry in your life, whether family heirlooms or more modern twists on body adornment, and so are now looking for artful ways to display it. And it has to be practical, too! I have thus picked up a few inspirational photos for you and me.

The first picture I found via the always inspiring decor8 blog, and it features a small nook by Christiana Coop's bedside. The hangers are by her own company, Hygge and West. Read more about it here.

The second picture I found is Meredith's Brooklyn bathroom (I had a crush on her whole abode before)
My personal project will be to paint a framed cork board I have in a pale blue with a icy white frame (a bit like in Lotta's home, below), then add hooks from Emery and Co for hanging necklaces and bracelets.

Small items will then go in plates I'll make myself, since I'm taking up ceramic classes. How about you?
