The Art of Collecting
hello!
Love to collect similar items? Group them in bunches and learn the beautiful art of the display. Here are a few examples, including mine. This post is inspired today by the Flickr group "Poppytalk Collectors".
First, a lovely example by Sarah Ahearn:
I also love these Venetian vases, by Stephen Tuck:
And finally, my books about tea:
Enjoy!

Opposites Attract!
Hello lovelies,
Today i feel like ranting a bit (sorry!) about reconciling the feminine and the masculine sides in me, design-wise, especially in the bedroom!
As you may already know, I love what can be called "masculine flair", dark woods, deep brown and charcoal grey...
picture found here
But then there's of course a feminine side in me, who loves white floors, Scandinavian design, and the style of sfgirlbybay! So how do I reconcile the two in the bedroom?
While browsing indierocket's *big* inspiration tray on flickr, I think I may have found an answer! Here are a few images to illustrate my design journey. Let's start!
image found here
First, I think I'm looking for some balance between feminine and masculine, just like in the picture above. The woods are not too dark, there's equal amounts of light colors and charcoal grey accents... Perfect!
Casey's bedroom, perfect feng-shui wise, and featured here on design*sponge.
See more soft greys mixed with white at Paul Massey's house.
enjoy!

Nino Sabatino's "Masculine Chic" Condo
Hello Lovelies,
Hooray! My computer works (almost) perfectly well now and I can scan pages from fave magazines to share with you.
Today i want to show you Nino Sabatino's place. The man has serious taste, but is not afraid of trial and error. While working for the Gucci store in Munich by day, he redecorates his apartment by night! First, his place has been all white and beige... or is plain and bland? LOL, just kidding. Then, it's been all purple!!! A few purple accessories remain now, as it turns a beautiful and musculine grey, black and silver!
Can you notice I'm excited by this fab find in the magazine "Toute la maison"? LOL I really am!
I love Nino's taste, his retrained palette yet added touches of luxury (the pillows on the sofa are by Gucci and Fendi).
All the art you see throughout the apartment is by Nino himself! Isn't the man talented??
OK, and for the pics themselves... Remember they're just scanned from a magazine... All photos by Christine Bauer.
Enjoy!

Wunderkammer Art
Hello Lovelies!
I wanted to tell you about my own vision of Wunderkammer Art, what Leah at ApartmentTherapy calles "decorating with biology charts" (see below for link), but my computer is down and I'm writing to you guys from a cyber-café... So here goes a couple of interesting links on the subject... My own vision will have to wait.
ApartmentTherapy says:
"Inspired by Leah's recent post about decorating with biology charts, we wanted to share with you our own favorite source for old botanical and natural history prints, Panteek. Their selection is vast, with everything from eighteenth-century parrot prints to woodblock Japanese tree scenes..."
I love Panteek, I love Deyrolle! I love bugs and wunderkammer art!
Here a re a few examples : to be coming soon...

Masculine Flair

I'm a woman, but I love what are traditionally considered "masculine" colors, such as charcoal grey, deep reds, black, rich chocolate, navy blue, etc... I also love the Apartment Therapy blog, because it represents the tastes of both sexes...
Here are a few "dark" rooms for inspiration, from my image archives. If they are not properly credited, please contact me and i'll correct that! Thanks!
You can click on all images to view them real large.

This is a view of furniture designer Christophe Delcourt's bedroom (via Marie Claire Maison). The pleated linen curtains are by artist Pietro Seminelli.
More to come!

Tea (and bugs) with the Caravan
hello Lovelies!
I found out about the great store, online or not, named "Caravan", through the clever Victoria and her sfgirlbybay blog.
Here are a few of its tea-related items. Beautiful and sweet, aren't they?

Now, they hold something that is NOT for the weak-hearted, but that with my love for bugs I really want, is a set of bugs magnets for the fridge! Hooray!

enjoy!

Funny Things Happen
Hello,

A Dresser with Framed Insects (photo source unknown).
Just when i was thinking of the new "bug decor" category, on September the 4th, sfgirlbybay and d*s, two of my fave blogs (they're daily reads, actually) happen to mention bugs the exact same day!
First, let me mention the guest post by Amy Azzarito at d*s: she was talking about Wedgewood porcelain, but i happened to spot the beautiful butterflies in the cabinet! Have a look:

Second, there was Victoria mentioning "weird science" on an pretty amazing Etsy shop. Ditto!

Enjoy!
