Oh, and Happy, Happy Friday!

Hello Lovelies!
hijiriK_3971923508_6aebfdec09
Have a swell week-end and warm yourself up watching this great photo by hijiriK, via the sfgirlbybay blog.

Also, have a great Halloween night! I'm wearing a black moth-eaten sweater right now to feel in the mood, and I bought decorative, (non-edible) squashes for the home. Spooky!

enjoy!

Tea (and bugs) with the Caravan

hello Lovelies!

I found out about the great store, online or not, named "Caravan", through the clever Victoria and her sfgirlbybay blog.

Here are a few of its tea-related items. Beautiful and sweet, aren't they?

Now, they hold something that is NOT for the weak-hearted, but that with my love for bugs I really want, is a set of bugs magnets for the fridge! Hooray!

I want/need to "winterize" my home

IMG_1101_c10

photo from REALSIMPLE.com

Holly from the decor8 blog has a wonderful post about "Fall: How to Cozy Up Your Home", a very thorough review of how to "winterize" your interior, and go from summery feel to that cozy, warm feel for winter.

This is how my living-room looks like in summer :

I'll add pics of my own to tell you what I do to prepare for Fall and Winter time!

When nature starts to look like this:

Or even this amazingly beautiful "Haiku" by Lumase:

Then, I'm looking for a color palette like this:

The Fall textile range from etsy seller Cicada Studio. Also the makers of Cloud9 Fabrics.

And also lots of candle light (see above), a good, warm blanket in the following color palette (maybe from Behr.com? not sure), to match my deep chocolate brown vintage couch.

Luxury silk pillows from Agnes & Hoss

I'm also adding silk pillows (see above), changing the rugs, adding silk flowers from SIA... As a centerpiece, I put tangerines in a big glass bowl, for the taste of fresh fruits, and also for the splash of color, that goes so well with the brown background.

And now... winterized !

Beautiful Type by Jessica H.

Hello!

I  love Jessica's project! She's a designer and typographer, and offers a daily cap, or "illustrative initial" (like the "I" at the beginning of this sentence) everyday. And she kindly shares her efforts with her readers. Check out "Daily Drop Cap"!

My Apologies to John Hopper

Hello,

9_24_08textile1

(image from The textile blog, via Apartment Therapy)

I've been blogging about Neville Tricket lately and somehow mixed him up with another wonderful man, called John Hopper.
How did that happen? Well, they both share a great love for art for instance, they have both wonderful Flickr photostreams, BUT John Hopper is the one with a strong love for textiles and a very organized blog and photostream about the subject.

The man is good, believe me, and he's been mentioned on Apartment Therapy, right here.

Here is where you can find him (apart from Cornwall, in the UK - Neville lives in Durban, South Africa):

And again, my apologies!

My Calendar for 2010

'Tis calendar season!

calendar vignette by Holly Becker fro the decor8 blog

Looking for a nice calendar for you desk, kitchen, office, or any other room? Check out the decor8 and the poppytalk blogs. They have done very thorough calendar round-ups. So I won't do it here.

My purpose here is only to praise the work of Anna Cote's. I love her prints and desk calendars, and it's the second year in a a row that I buy hers, from her "Modern Printed Matter" etsy shop. Be aware that these are gocco printed calendars, and 2010 is the last year Anna will use this technique, since the supply has become scarce and expensive. We are due to new printing adventures for 2011!

Here a few views of both 2009 and 2010 calendars.

You can buy the 2010 version through the Poppytalk Handmade Market or Anna's etsy shop right now! ;-)

The modern printed matter calendar can be seen at the bottom row, to the right.

Tea with Neville Trickett

TEA_ContactSheet_010

*One* man I'd love to have a long, good conversation with a tea cup in hand is called Neville Trickett. He comes all the way from South Africa, I live in Southern France, but we share a similar love for art, anything wunderkammer and strange, and diptychs, to name a few. Victoria from sfgirlbybay had been lucky enough to exchange a few words with him as an "unexpected guest". Check out the interview and the images!

ContactSheet_001

Neville has a great blog named Saint Verde (I wish I knew why) and an outstanding flickr stream, with a love for textiles, all categorized per period and style!

PS: Wait a minute! Just as i am praising the Saint Verde Digest blog, Neville is talking about stopping it and starting a new project online. I'm sitting at the edge of my chair....

My Sunday Walk

balade_marsanne

Here's a picture of my Sunday walk in the outdoors. Meet the Marsanne forest in the fall, in the South-East of France (Provence). Here are a couple of leaves I gathered along the way and taped on Awagami paper:

Tomorrow, we will be back to design and all things lovely!

enjoy!
